Lockyer Valley Floods - 10 January 2011

The club joins acknowledges with sadness the deaths of more than twenty people in the Lockyer Valley and Toowoomba in the flood event which devastated these areas after a massive cloudburst on 10th January 2010. A wall of muddy water came crashing down the Toowoomba range through Withcott, Murphy's Creek and Postman's Ridge.
Much of the town of Grantham was destroyed in a few minutes. Some members of the club barely escaped with their lives, and some have had homes and businesses destroyed or severely damaged.
The Club had virtually all of its equipment, its photographs and archives, and also its dismantled hangar and shed stored directly in the path of the deluge. These have been almost completely destroyed.
In addition several members' aircraft have been destroyed or severely damaged.
